Throwing up is never fun. I know some people who avoid it at all costs. And it’s not pleasant table conversation, but what really happens when you throw up.
(Sorry to push this out but I promise I have a point.) The bottom line is that throwing up gets the gunk out and you feel better after…
Soul puking is just one of the valuable sessions that is included in the Soul Care Personal Retreat. Getting the gunk out of our souls is just as valuable, or even more so, than getting the gunk out of our bodies. Gunk/poison makes us sick. It doesn’t really matter how it got there, it just needs to get out.
Allowing gunk to stay in our soul keeps us sick.
The good news is that once it’s out you feel better. Then we can move on to staying healthy and keeping the gunk out.
If you eat food from a certain restaurant that makes you sick you aren’t likely to go back anytime soon. It’s kind of like that with soul care. Once the gunk is out you can take care of what goes back in.
We all know that God has good things in store for us, but do we really take the time to lean into that truth?
Not long ago my husband, Eric, and I took some time away to invest in our souls. We recognized we were in a season of empathy fatigue. Prior to that time I didn’t even know there was such a thing. We actually went away for entire week and the only goal we had was intentional soul care.
The “soul puking” part of this retreat was birthed from our interactions with Care For Pastors, the wonderful ministry we went to in Florida that is true to it’s name.
We came away stronger for spending time caring for our souls.
How about you? Feeling a little empathy fatigue? Need to spend some time on intentional soul care?
Maybe you can’t take a week off, but maybe you need to set aside some time to care for your soul.
The Bridges Coaching Soul Care Personal Retreat can be done at whatever pace you like. Eric and I host a casual dialogue guiding you through 7 specific sessions.
- You could do them all in one weekend or a Saturday, or set aside one time a week till you are through..
- You could do them alone or with a group.
Whatever you decide to do I just want to encourage you that your soul is worth caring for!
For from it flow the springs of life and if your stream needs tending your soul needs care.
