When we lived in Kansas I actually watched a tornado form once. It was a pretty amazing experience. You know how it works … hot air starts chasing cold air around in the form of clouds. The fight can get fast and furious and destructive.
Hurricanes are usually worse.
But in a hurricane you can more clearly see the opportunity for calm in the midst of the storm.
Life is like this sometimes. Hot air chases cold air around and things get spinning fast and furious. It’s can be hard for people to control their spiraling thoughts. They need a safe place to talk about their stuff.
People need validation that the things they are going through and legitimately rough. But even more than than they need to know that
God ALWAYS offers calm in storms!
John 16:33 says
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
- I never know from semester to semester if there will be more people interested.
- “Woo” is ranked my lowest strength.
- There is no marketing department or even person in Bridges Coaching.
As I was talking this all through with my favorite coach, again for the 13th time, he asked me a couple powerful questions.
Has your organization been growing?
How has that happened?
What do you need to do that you have done in the past?
Coach/Care Pastor Eric Scott
Here’s the truth.
- When I stress about what I could be doing more proficiently I get sucked into a swirling mess.
- I can not make people cross the line and I don’t even want to make them do anything.
- God started this whole thing and He will continue it or shut it down as He wills.
- There is a peace available to me in the calm of this storm if I center myself in daily relationship with my loving Father!
What if God wants you to do more?
What if He wants you to lead them to Himself, help them learn to listen and to lean into Him?
So much weight is lifted when we left God be the Savior! He is the one who offers peace that passes understanding.
Track with me here! It’s not your job to work everything out it’s your job to offer hope!
It’s risky business letting people listen to God on their own. Sometimes they are impatient or they can’t hear very well, sometimes they may even hear something that may not really be Him at all. But here’s the deal. We can walk with them while they learn to listen OR we can step in and do it for them thereby crippling them from ever learning to walk on their own.
I’ve messed up myself before. And the leaders that helped the most were the ones I could honestly talk to about what I was hearing. The ones who asked me powerful questions about moving forward and what the costs would be for me to try something.
There’s always going to be stuff swirling around as long as we are in this world, BUT God offers a certain centering, a calm in the storm, to those who seek Him. Those who seek find.
Who do you need to walk with as the learn to hear God’s voice?
Or maybe it’s you that needs centering and you are looking for someone other than God to meet you? Lean into Him, a journey awaits that is personally designed for by God!
