When I was a dean at Bible school, I was struck how many students came to me with the same issues. Many young men and women often wanted my input on similar career, relationship, and family questions.
For years I’d try to answer their questions and give them what I thought they needed.
But over time I realized there was a problem: many of these young people kept coming back again and again with the same problem. I was giving answers, but they weren’t growing much in the process.
That’s when I realized the fault wasn’t with them – I was the one who needed to change!
Around that time I started learning about coaching, and realized the journey they were on was more important than having the “right” answer immediately. Their growth and maturity was more valuable than me downloading my wisdom and life experience into them in the shortest possible time.
Because of the changes I saw in my students as they took ownership of their decisions, I kept learning about coaching, and along the way I developed my own training program. Since that time over 200 people have been trained in how to coach others, and the effect on them has been profound.
Check out what Jack Hempfling, a pastor from Western NY, said about his recent coach training experience:
“I think everyone who cares about relationships and ministry ought to strongly consider taking coach training. It’s helped me consider the real reasons for what I say and do in all my relationships… and has given me powerful tools to use, not just in ministry, but in life and friendships and every relationship.”
I love that it’s helped him not just coach and lead people professionally, but coaching skills have also helped his personal relationships as well!
If you’re interested in learning skills like these, I’m excited to say that today we’re opening the next class of coach training. Over the next seven days you can sign up for 12 weeks of personal coaching, intensive curriculum, peer discussion, and much more.
Coach training will equip you to help people move forward in every area of life. You’ll learn skills like how to:
- Draw out desires God has put into the hearts of people you lead
- Help people overcome recurring hurdles in their personal and work life
- Coach others on how to make better life decisions
The great news is: coach training is for everyone – it’s not just for professional coaches! Parents, ministry leaders, businesspeople, social workers – if you have a position of influence in someone’s life, coaching can help expand your effectiveness.
If you want to help others grow and take ownership of their lives, learn more about coach training at this page! All class members go through this training material together starting June 11th, and we aren’t sure when we’ll offer this training again.
Do you have any questions about what coach training is? Please shoot me a message and let me know your thoughts – I’ll get right back to you!
