Recently I went to a seminar where Tony Stolzfus, the facilitator, started one of the sessions by saying, “Okay, I want you to take a minute or two and write down three things you like about Jesus?” I thought that would be pretty easy and the hard part would be keeping it to three, but he wasn’t done with the directions.
He went on to say, “Then, ask Him three things He likes about you”. There was the throw down. “God likes me?” I thought to myself. I mean I know He loves me and all, but He likes me? That just kind of hit me for some reason.
But, I did what I was told.
I asked the question and then meditated on what God might like about me personally. He brought to mind how He designed me and how the unique characteristics that make me who I am were part of His master plan. Of course He likes three things about me, in fact it would be pretty hard for him to keep it to three!
Sometimes I feel bad that I am such a deep thinker, evaluator, analyst…I wish I were just plain more fun, but He made me that way. I’m not broken. He wanted me to be good at that kind of stuff. How cool is that?! (There’s One!)
Large social events kind of freak me out, but He told me He made me to be better at one-on-one or writing. He designed my impact to be better that way. (Two)
I’m a bit of a dreamer. I see old buildings and I want to repurpose them. I always have a quick and ready, “What if…?” going on in my mind. I have more ideas than I could possibly fit into one lifetime, and I really don’t have enough money for any of them… I often felt it was a waste of time to consider what could be if I wasn’t making any concrete plans toward action. God showed me that He designed my orientation to see things as they could be, not just buildings, but people and organizations as well. (Bam – Three!)
So, how about you? What are three things God likes about you? After all, He designed you to be you!
Dare ya to leave me a comment and tell me (and the whole world) what God likes about you!
