I love that America was built on words like these.
We have come a long way as a country from when these words were penned to where we are now. Wars have been fought and lives have been lost to make them more of a reality than they were when they were first written as an ideal.
The same is happening today in the Kingdom of God. Words have been penned that reflect truths that are supposed to be self-evident and yet we are in the midst of internal wars to make them reality. Lives are being lost in this battle and yet we must carry on and fight for these truths. Simple though they may be, I ask you to consider your own struggles and fight for the truth in your own life first and then for the lives of those around you!
How many of these truths do you believe unswervingly and live out in your daily life?
1 God cares about me personally and deeply. I always feel loved, cared for, noticed and connected to Him.
2 God works all things out for good for those who love Him. I know that no matter what stuff of life happens to me or around me that God always has a plan and will see me through.
3 I am not alone. Even when things get stormy and I cannot feel the sun shining on me, I know that He is still there and believe that this season will pass.
4 I am forgiven. When I mess up, even now after I have committed my life to God, I can still run to Him with a repentant and honest heart and He will forgive me.
5 I am uniquely designed. He chose my gender, my race, my personality type….my everything because He wanted me to be who I am and He asks me to lean into all He created me to be.
6 I have a purpose. I am part of an important whole. I have a unique place in the body of Christ. He created me with certain giftings and skills that He wants me to be free to pursue.
7 I can be content. I have learned that I can trust God and that whatever state I am in I can be satisfied. I am blessed because of all the other truths and I am at peace.
8 I am moving forward. I am on a journey pursuing the good works that have been prepared in advance for me. I am not stuck because I trust that God is guiding me and I am choosing to step out in faith toward the things He is leading me to do.
9 God comforts me. When the stuff of life comes at me and I am not feeling at my best I know that He offers the care that I need.
Which one of these is the most tricky for you to believe?
I don’t know about you, but I know there are days when one or more of these truths are not self-evident for me… nevertheless, these are truths I want to fight for in my life! When I recognize I am living in a state that is not as great as God intended for me, I pray I will always run to the Truth and transform my thinking and living to align with God’s offer of abundant life!
